3 All-Natural DIY Face Masks
Do you suffer from dry skin, oiliness or problem areas?
Skin issues like these are not only super common – they seem to pop up out of nowhere!
But if you take a closer look, you may be surprised to find that your skin is responding to stress, poor diet or environmental factors. Going to the root cause is our #1 tip when it comes to having great skin… but what can we do in the meantime?
This is where topical treatments come in!
Today, we’re sharing 3 all-natural masks that you can make at home to treat spots, revitalise + boost your complexion:
#1 – Natural Detox Mask / Spot Treatment
Treats: Oiliness (e.g. through the t-zone), congestion, blemishes.
Activated charcoal and bentonite clay are both powerful detox agents that draw impurities from the skin. Perfect for treating congestion, or spot treating blemishes (even before they reach the surface!).
Simply mix all ingredients together to form a paste. Apply to problem areas, through the t-zone or all over for oily skin. Avoid the eye area. Allow the mask to sit for 10 – 15 minutes until dry. Remove with warm water and follow with moisturiser.
#2 – Nutrient Rich Revitalising Mask
Treats: Dull, lacklustre skin in need of an energy boost!
Raw, organic honey rebalances the skin while mineral + antioxidant rich seaweed / spirulina powder restore the skin’s natural glow.
- 2 tsp seaweed or spirulina powder
- 2 tsp raw organic honey
Simply mix the honey and seaweed / spirulina powder thoroughly until it forms a smooth paste. Apply all over the face, including under the eyes if desired. Allow to sit for up to 30 minutes, before removing with warm water.
#3 – Probiotic Rebalancing Mask
Treats: Acne prone skin, skin rashes and other signs of skin microbiome imbalance.
We talk a lot about the gut microbiome around here… however our skin also has a microbiome which can become out of balance.
Kefir contains over 30 strains of beneficial bacteria and yeast to help rebalance the skin, and the lactic acid content also provides a light exfoliation of the top layer of the skin. We combine this with olive oil for added moisture. For dry or flaky skin, adding an egg yolk to provides the skin with a boost of healthy fats.
- 2 tsp milk kefir
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Optional: 1 raw egg yolk
Simply mix all the ingredients together in a bowl to form a thin mask that can be applied all over the face with a brush or with fingers. Allow to sit for up to 30 minutes, before removing with warm water.
